Cumellas has partnered with OiKo for guidance in transitioning towards a more sustainable and transparent production. The first step has involved assessing the carbon footprint of all their products and developing a labeling model that communicates the environmental performance to consumers, enabling them to consider CO2 emissions as a purchasing criterion.

In addition to carbon footprint calculation, the evaluation has included assessing volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions that can adversely affect indoor air quality. An analysis of the various materials used in the carpets has been conducted to identify problematic ones and initiate a production improvement process to offer a more sustainable and healthier product.
